Grant Black
Managing Director & Co-Founder
Grant Black is a highly accomplished commercial executive with more than 30 years of leadership experience across the Australian and Asia-Pacific consumer health, healthcare and FMCG sectors. Throughout his career, he has held a broad range of executive leadership positions, consistently delivering sustainable business growth through strategic leadership, commercial excellence and market expansion.
Prior to co-founding Wattle & Fern, Grant served as Director of Emerging Markets for iNova Pharmaceuticals focusing on China. Prior to that role, he was General Manager – Nelson Division, Sales & Marketing at Pharmacare Laboratories, where he led the company’s integrated sales and marketing functions. Reporting to him were National Sales Managers, Category and Channel Managers, Brand Marketing, Customer Service teams and other senior commercial leaders, with responsibility for driving strategic growth across some of Australia’s largest consumer health brands.
Grant has extensive expertise across the Australian and New Zealand Pharmacy and Grocery channels, having successfully developed and executed national sales strategies, category growth initiatives, customer partnerships and integrated marketing programs with major retailers, wholesalers and pharmacy groups. His leadership has delivered significant commercial outcomes through strong customer relationships, high-performing teams and disciplined execution.
Beyond Australia and New Zealand, Grant has played a key role in expanding brands across China through the Cross Border E-Commerce (CBEC) channel and has worked extensively throughout South-East Asia, partnering with distributors, retailers and strategic partners to build sustainable international growth platforms.
Over the course of his career, Grant has developed a reputation for identifying commercial opportunities, building high-performing organisations and helping businesses scale across multiple markets. His experience spans strategic planning, sales leadership, marketing, customer development, business transformation and international market expansion.
Today, Grant works with multinational organisations, emerging brands and investors seeking to accelerate growth across Australia, New Zealand, China and South-East Asia. Combining executive-level commercial leadership with deep industry relationships, he helps businesses develop market entry strategies, build high-performing distribution networks and execute sustainable growth across the Asia-Pacific region.
David Jamieson
Director of Business Development & Co-Founder
David Jamieson is an accomplished commercial executive with more than 26 years’ experience across the Australian, New Zealand and Asia-Pacific healthcare, consumer health and FMCG sectors. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for delivering sustainable business growth by combining strategic leadership, commercial execution and strong industry relationships.
Prior to co-founding Wattle & Fern, David was Head of Business Development – China & Domestic E-Commerce at Pharmacare Laboratories, where he was instrumental in establishing and expanding the company’s China Cross Border E-Commerce (CBEC) business. He successfully led the trading and CBEC teams while working with many of Australia’s leading consumer health brands including Nature’s Way, Bioglan, Kids Smart, FatBlaster and Sambucol.
In addition to his international business development expertise, David has held senior national sales leadership roles, including National Sales Manager, where he led high-performing pharmacy field sales teams across Australia. His experience spans sales strategy, joint business planning, customer engagement, field force effectiveness, sales capability development and the successful execution of national commercial strategies across both pharmacy and retail channels.
David also brings extensive experience in contract manufacturing and strategic sourcing, supported by a well-established network of manufacturing partners, suppliers and commercial stakeholders throughout Australia and Asia. His ability to connect brands with the right manufacturing, regulatory and distribution partners enables clients to accelerate market entry while minimising risk.
Having played a pioneering role in developing Australian brands within the China CBEC channel, David possesses a deep understanding of cross-border commerce, distributor management, market access, retail execution and the complexities of expanding into Greater China and South-East Asia.
Today, David partners with multinational organisations, emerging brands and investors seeking to unlock growth opportunities across Australia, China and South-East Asia. Combining strategic insight with practical execution, he helps businesses navigate complex markets, identify the right commercial partners and build scalable, sustainable growth platforms throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Angus Gilbert
Business Development Manager – China
Angus brings a unique combination of Mandarin language skills, China market knowledge, live E-commerce experience and commercial capability to the Wattle & Fern team.
Having grown up on Sydney’s northern beaches, he has studied Mandarin since high school and completed a Bachelor of Commerce and Chinese Studies at the University of Sydney. Angus has furthered his Chinese language and cultural studies at both Zhejiang University in Hangzhou and Fudan University in Shanghai. He is fluent in Mandarin, including speaking, reading and writing.
Before entering the Chinese market, Angus spent two years working in Deloitte’s Audit & Assurance practice, gaining valuable commercial experience across financial reporting, business operations and client management.
Angus has extensive experience working with China-based KOLs and KOCs, as well as production teams, agencies and operational partners involved in live-streaming and social commerce. He has worked alongside the Wattle & Fern team on live-streaming and social-commerce projects for major skincare and wellness brands, developing a strong understanding of the China digital-commerce landscape and demonstrating his ability to work effectively between Australian brands and Chinese partners.
In his new role, Angus will work closely with Dave Jamieson and our China partners to develop Australian and New Zealand brands across the Greater China market. This will include building relationships with distributors, major retailers such as Sam’s Club, Costco, Ole, Watsons and Mannings, and leading digital platforms including Tmall and JD and others.
Based in Shanghai, Angus will also provide Wattle & Fern with an important on-the-ground presence in China, allowing him to engage directly with clients, distributors, KOLs, agencies and retail partners across the region.
Angus’s combination of language skills, cultural understanding, China market experience and commercial capability provides a genuine point of difference for Wattle & Fern and the brands we represent.
Jeremy Hunt
Advisor & Consultant
Jeremy helped pioneer the Cross Border Ecommerce and Daigou trade from Australia to China.
Jeremy was co-founder and COO of Health More, Australia’s pre-eminent CBEC distribution company taking health and wellness brands to China.
In previous roles, Jeremy was Marketing and Business Manager at Swisse Wellness and Myer, as well as advising ASX/NZX financial sector and leading data analytics businesses.
